Diagnostics/Treatment

If our physical exam shows something that needs to be further investigated, we have technology here at North Shore Veterinary Hospital to diagnose and treat your pet. We diagnose and treat diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, liver and kidney disease, immune and gastrointestinal disorders and dermatological and allergies.

In house blood work

Often times the first step to diagnosis is blood work. Running blood work in house allows for quick results and treatment of your pet.

Out of house blood work

When further, more detailed blood work is needed, it is sent out to Antech Diagnostic Laboratories.

X-Ray

Radiographs are one of the more important and most often used diagnostic tools that we use here at North Shore. Our digital x-ray machine allows us to take quick, high resolution x-rays, often time while you wait. Detailed x-rays show fractured bones, the location and size of tumors, identification of foreign bodies in the stomach or intestines and more.

We will often consult with the doctors at eVet Diagnostics on your pets radiographs. We submit your pet’s radiographs online and their team of expert veterinary radiologists will respond with a diagnosis.

Ultrasonography

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to produce a real time image of the internal organs of your pet. This is useful in detecting problems of the abdomen and heart. With the help of an ultrasound we can biopsy tissues and determine if a pet is pregnant. Endoscopy is done by inserting an instrument into a hollow organ or cavity of the body. Through this instrument doctors can see inside the organ and allows them to make a diagnorsis.

Ultrasounds and Endoscopies are done on premises by Dr. Richard Reid of Mobile Veterinary Ultrasound and Endoscopy. Your pet is dropped off at our office in the morning and awaits the arrival of Dr. Reid and his caring staff who will carry out the procedure.

Medical boarding and intensive care

If your pet requires monitoring and intensive care we can keep them here in our hospital for close observation. Your pet will be comfortable in our spacious cages and cared for by our gentle and caring staff.

Prescription Pharmacy

After diagnosis, if your pet requires medication you will receive it quickly right here in our office. Our fully stocked pharmacy allows for quick dispensing and refills of medication. Do you need to refill our pets medication? Just give us a call and we will have it ready for you to pick up in minutes.
