Richard W. Fredericks
Richard W. Fredericks was born in 1942 to his Veterinarian father Arthur W. Fredericks and his mother Ruth in Northport, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1965. From there he attended Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. Immediately following graduation, he was in private practice at Belmont Racetrack in Floral Park, New York where he tended to the veterinary needs of the racing community. A few years later, he returned to Northport and continued the mixed practice tradition of his father's generation with a concentration on horses, dogs, and cats as Long Island moved away from farming. In 1982, Dr. Fredericks became certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, and began successfully utilizing these techniques in his practice. In 1985, he created the current practice at 835 Fort Salonga Road and turned the original facility into a boarding kennel and grooming center that exists today. Dr. Richard W. Fredericks, D.V. M. continues to practice part-time while maintaining over 30 hours of continuing education each year.
Russell W Fredericks
Staff Veterinarian Russell W. Fredericks was born and raised in Northport, New York. In 1990 he graduated from Hartwick college with a B.A. in biology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. He then attended Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in 1996 in the top 20 of his class. Upon graduating he became licensed to practice Veterinary Medicine in both New York and Florida and spent the next three years as an associate Veterinarian in West Palm Beach, Florida. His achievements there enabled him to become medical director of two VCA owned hospitals. In 1999, Dr. Fredericks returned to Northport, New York to join both his Grandfather, Dr. Arthur W. Fredericks, Cornell '31 And his Father, Dr. Richard W. Fredericks, Cornell '69 in their three generation Cornell graduate Veterinary Practice. Over, the past six years the youngest Dr. Fredericks has subsequently expanded and taken over the existing practice as chief Veterinarian. He continues to work and live in Northport with his family.
John R. Berger
Staff Veterinarian Dr. Berger is a native of Washington State and grew up in Oyster Bay, New York. He served in the United States Army from 1992-1996, stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He attended the University of Tennessee from 1996-2003. During that time he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2003. Since graduation, Dr. Berger has been practicing at North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Northport, New York and Animal Emergency Services in Commack, New York. Dr. Berger's special professional interests include surgery and emergency care. In his spare time, Dr. Berger enjoys fishing and playing his bass guitar. He has two dogs named "Leroy" and "Turdle".
Marybeth Polek
Dr. Marybeth Polek is a native of Philadelphia, PA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in large animal husbandry from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in 1990. During her years at Delaware Valley College she spent most of her free time as manager of the school’s Standard bred breeding farm or perfecting her English riding skills and competing on the intercollegiate equestrian team. She attended Ross University School of veterinary medicine from 1994-1997 in St. Kitts, West Indies and completed her final year and rotations at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Upon graduation, Dr. Polek worked with and was mentored by Dr. Richard W. Fredericks at North Shore Veterinary Hospital from 1998-2001. Subsequently, Dr. Polek went on to work at local emergency clinics and has also had the experience of practicing shelter medicine. Dr. Polek rejoined North Shore Veterinary Hospital in September 2007 with her primary focus to be offering our client’s house calls as well as traditional private practice. Dr. Polek enjoys yoga, going to the gym, travel and is currently learning to surf. She and her dog Izze (the best black lab) live in Huntington.
Christy Packard
Staff veterinarian Dr. Christy Packard is a native of Northport, N. Y. After high school she attended SUNY Purchase where she received a B. A. in music. She went on to put out her own record and to DJ around the country. In 2007, Dr. Packard decided to pursue another goal born of her lifelong love for animals. She was accepted to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and after attending the University of Florida for her clinical year, she returned to Northport to practice medicine in her home town. She joined North Shore Veterinary Hospital in November, 2011, and lives in Northport with her three cats, Hector, Pito, and One-Eyed Wilma, and her two dogs, Bumpy and Foxy Brown.
Robin Hills-Fredericks
Staff Practice Manager Robin, an accomplished equestrian, joined North Shore Veterinary Hospital in 2000. She has received certification in Veterinary Practice Leadership from the AAHA and Veterinary Leadership Academy, as well as a BS in Psychology. Aside from overseeing and managing NSVH, Robin is also the Senior Care Advisor for the Hospital. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and children, Harry and Wyatt!
Alexandra Beck
Staff Licensed Veterinary Technician Ali has been with NSVH since winter 2010. She graduated from SCCC and received her Veterinary Technician License in 2006. Her previous employers include the Harborside Veterinary Hospital (2004-2006), the New York Veterinary Specialty Center (2006-2010) and Animal Emergency Service in Commack (2009- Present). Her experience ranges from ER/Critical Care to Oncology and Orthopedics! Ali enjoys animal advocacy and working on agility training with her beautiful pit-bull, Luna Bela!
Margaret Monahan
Staff Manager, Bookkeeper, Licensed Veterinary Technician Margaret's managerial skills and love for animals have made her a key team member at North Shore Veterinary Hospital! An animal lover all of her life, Margaret likes to spend time with her horses, Sunny Sunshine, Henry and Gina, her yellow lab, Tara, and her newest addition, Missy, a rescue beagle!
Andrea Baldassare
Staff Asst. Manager Andrea joined the North Shore Veterinary Hospital Reception Team in the fall of 2004. In the fall of 2008, she was promoted to Assistant Manager. Andrea also works with various local animal shelters, fostering several kitten litters each year in hopes of finding them happy and healthy homes! Andrea lives in Northport with her family, which includes seven cats and two St. Bernard's, Bear and Stella!
Tina Ferraiolo
Staff Licensed Veterinary Technician Tina, a resident of Farmingdale, completed her Professional Internship with North Shore Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2009. She returned to NSVH in the spring of 2010, upon receiving her New York State Veterinary Technician License after completing her courses at Suffolk County Community College. Tina's free time is spent with her rambunctious puggle, Lukin!
Donna Damo
Staff Veterinary Assistant Donna, a native of Northport, has been with North Shore Veterinary Hospital since 2000. She completed her Veterinary Assistant Certification from BOCES-Wilson Tech in 1998. As the Veterinary Technician Team Leader, she oversees the tech staff in their day-to-day duties. When Donna isn’t at NSVH, she can be found spoiling her two Siberian Huskies, Kiara Bella and Skylar Rayne, rotten!
Danielle Brock
Staff Veterinary Assistant Danielle, a lifetime resident of Northport, joined NSVH in January of 2007. Danielle is training as a veterinary assistant and receptionist. She has a dog named Beckham, a cat named Posh, and - the most recent addition - a blind kitten named Greyson.
Nicole Parisi
Staff Veterinary Assistant Nicole, a resident of East Northport, joined NSVH in the summer of 2011. Nicole is trained as a veterinary assistant and receptionist. She is currently attending Stony Brook University as a Biology major with hopes of going to Veterinary School. She has 2 dogs - Tiffany & Ginger, a cat named Shadow, and a horse named Major.
Linda Pitti
Staff Receptionist Linda, a resident of Dix Hills, rejoined our practice as a receptionist after a 7 year hiatus to raise her children. She has 2 dogs named Tiffany & Max, and 3 black cats - Shadow, Lilly & Booty. Her animals and 5 children keep her very busy!
Susan Renick
Staff Receptionist Susan joined the NSVH reception team in the fall of 2008. Susan enjoys working with people and has a great love of animals. Susan lives in Kings Park with her husband, two sons, her Swiss Mountain/Rottweiler mix named "Biscuit", 4 birds, a lizard, one snake, and some fish!
